Are you out of contract?

When an existing customer has not renewed their contract or moved supplier at the end of their contracted period or after their contract has terminated early, the terms and conditions of their terminated or expired contract will remain in force until the customer either enters into a new contract or we cease to be registered at all supply points. In such cases, the customer will be billed on our variable SmartFlex Rates.

What is a deemed contract?

This is a contract which is applied following a change of tenancy when the new customer has not negotiated a bespoke contract with us or when a customer is on supply but have never had a contract with us. This type of contract has default published rates which are available below. SmartestEnergy Business Limited is obliged under our supply license to publish a set of deemed rates for our supply of electricity and gas. The circumstances are set out in our terms and conditions.

The terms and conditions of your previous contract remain until you either enter into a new contract or we are no longer registered at all supply points.

What happens when you’re on a deemed contract

How do I know if I’m on a deemed contract?

A deemed energy contract can come about in two ways. You could be a new owner or tenant in a building we supply and have not negotiated a bespoke contract with us. Or you could be on supply but have never had a contract with us.

What are the rates for a deemed contract?

If you are on a deemed contract, you will be on a deemed rate. We have an obligation under our supply license to publish a set of deemed rates for our supply of electricity and gas.
